![]() So at this point, it's worth investing in Arcana past rank 1 forbidden arts all the way to rank 5, so you can get the most out of that weapon. I am not sure what the soft caps are for weapons that scale off 3 stats, as I haven't used any yet. However, if the weapon scales off two stats the soft cap for each stat is 25. And here is where you want to know how soft caps differ from Sanctuary.īasically, from what I've gathered, if a weapon scales off a single stat, the soft cap for that stat is 40 - you see major diminishing returns past that point. Up to this point all your weapons scale ONLY off strength.īut next, you may want to pick up the Dragon's Maw (Fire/Poison), and that is Strength/Arcana. There's also a chainsaw sword from that area that others enjoy, haven't used yet personally, but the chainsaw move sounds cool. And if you can stay close to the boss, you'll be gaining back the rage you spent during the effect and can recast. Hits like a truck, and casts a PBAoE dot that constantly ticks damage so long as you're up against your opponent - it lets you deal damage while rolling through the boss, and adds more damage when you're grappling a stunned mage in the face. In the third area there are a couple options, personally I think the Cleaver of Flies (Phys/Cold) is great. Not worth investing in Arcana 5 to use the one spell it has at this point. Those 2 carried me til I got Tombtender's Guillotine from the dark element mage, which is a nice homage to the Jaws of Death. Get rank 1 in forbidden arts so you can cast their enchants. Between those two, nothing should resist your attacks at least. But when you invest in in survivability vs DPS comes down to personal preference mostly.įirst mage you kill will be either the fire mage or ice mage, the fire greatsword is great for this early stage of the game, and the ice 2 hander is decent as well. Eventually you'll probably want to invest more points in Endurance to up your defenses a bit, it can make a difference. Soldier was a good starter for this, I actually used the starter chest for a while, since it was fairly easy to stay under 50% encumbrance with it once I ditched the helm and used light leggings/gloves. Strength/Arcana was my 2nd toon, so I went into it with a bit more knowledge. Very Minor spoilers, in that I'm mentioning the elements of the bosses you fight, but that's it.
